The Department of Design & Arts (DDA) strive to produce world class artists and designers who may with their skill and knowledge, redefine the way we perceive art across India as well as in abroad. Our highly qualified faculties create and foster additional reflection on the instructional framework that will most effectively support students' learning in art and design through creative practices. We represent a new direction for art education, identifying a more in-depth understanding of art and design education. The most substantial change involves the definition of art and design education as the study of visual thinking - including design, visual communications, visual culture, and fine/studio art. The guide provides local, statewide, and national examples in each of these areas to the reader. The overall framework offered suggests practice beyond traditional modes and promotes a more constructivist approach to learning. Students are encouraged to share in the educational path as a partner in the educational process. The arts and creativity matter, and DDA support districts through our fine arts and creativity education consultant. This report is a resource for all who are interested in establishing, enhancing, and promoting the arts and creativity in new schools.

Design Defined

The meaning of the word "design" has changed over the centuries, but design has existed since human beings picked up rocks and carved them for use as tools used to identify the attributes of a wide range of artistic, creative products distinct from fine art, visual communication, and visual culture.

Interior Design

The mission of the Interior Design program is:

To CREATE globally engaged, environmentally sensitive professionals who possess artistic sensibility, intellectual ability, and hands-on technical proficiency;

To PREPARE interior designers for a lifelong process of interdisciplinary exploration, reflection, development and an acute understanding of human relationships and the built-environment.

Fine Arts

When one has provided such isolation (the mental space to think) amongst the crowd by an institution, one questions the self "who am I?" and inquiring about it becomes the aim one gets while becoming the part of The School of Fine Arts Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University. The process of finding the answer the understanding of various disciplines of Fine Arts, a student gets from the DDA faculties who are specialized in multiple disciplines of Fine Arts, in the Foundation year of four years Bachelor Program. As per the student's potential and interest she/he may choose the specialization from the second year onwards till the fourth year, where she/he has to do rigorous practice to acquire the skills in the practical studio work, the study of prescribed theory subjects and research in selected fields. To reach the epitome level of creativity and become the master of original mannerism excogitate by a student which can define her/him as an individual, the student may pursue the Master's program here at DDA, CSMU.

Our endeavor is to distinguish between education where one learns how to make living and a form of education that teaches one how to live.

Visual Arts: Film Technology, Animation and VfX

The media landscape today is complex, and it will only grow more challenging in the future. To succeed in this dynamic, fast-changing industry, you will need to excel in a diverse, multi-disciplinary environment by utilizing and integrating a wide range of emerging technologies. You will need to demonstrate a thorough and versatile understanding of the impact of these technologies on art and culture.

The Programs in Film and Animation teaches industry-oriented courses in film and television, traditional and digital animation, VFX and digital media. Our courses combine strong theoretical foundations with a hands-on focus. Our students not only gain experience with industry-standard hardware and software, but also a comprehensive understanding of the concepts that will underpin their careers in a variety of industries.
