Notification for Admission in the Ph.D. programme for the Academic year 2022-23 Even Semester (LAST DATE FOR APPLICATION EXTENDED)

Applications are invited for the admission in the Ph.D. Programme of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University for the Academic year 2022-23 Even Semester. Applicants may fill up the online application form and attach copies of all certificate and marksheets up to post-graduate latest by the last date of application as specified herewith. Working professionals seeking admission in a Part Time Ph.D. programme require proof of employment and No objection Certificate from employer. Incomplete application will not be considered. Admission is open for PhD in following disciplines only with limited number of seats:

Admission procedure, Fee Structure and Important Dates

1. Mode and Duration of the Ph.D. Programme

As per the UGC (minimum standards and procedures for award of Ph.D.) regulations 2022, Full Time PhD programme shall have the duration of minimum three years. Working professionals may pursue a part-time mode Ph.D. programme The minimum duration of the Part Time Ph.D. programme shall be four years.

Fee Structure

Indian and SAARC Nationals

Application Fee: Rs. 1100

Programme Fee:

For Engineering, Magnagement and Law: Rs. 160000 per annum for Full Time Students
For Arts, Humanities, Science and Commerce: Rs. 140000 per annum for Full Time Students
For Engineering, Magnagement and Law: Rs. 140000 per annum for Part Time Students
For Arts, Humanities, Science and Commerce: Rs. 125000 per annum for Part Time Students

Non-Indian Nationals & NRIs

Application Fee: Rs. 1100

Programme Fee:

For Engineering, Magnagement and Law: Rs. 180000 per annum for Full Time Students
For Arts, Humanities, Science and Commerce: Rs. 165000 per annum for Full Time Students
For Engineering, Magnagement and Law: Rs. 160000 per annum for Part Time Students
For Arts, Humanities, Science and Commerce: Rs. 150000 per annum for Part Time Students

Other Fees

Readmission fee: Rs. 600 per annum

Examination Fee: Rs. 1000 per Examination

Thesis Submission Fee: Rs. 20000 (One time)

Note:

1. Full programme/ tuition fee is payable at the time of admission. (In case of instalments, at least 50% of the Tuition Fee is payable before commencement of classes by the approval of competent authority).

2. 50% of the annual programme fee will be charged per anum after the minimum duration of programme, until submission of thesis.

3. Other fees such as Examination fee/ ID card fee etc. will be applied as and when appropriate.

4. For NRI and International Students, Optional Admission procedural charges (Medical Check-Up, Medical Insurance, AIU equivalence assistance, FRRO / Police verification / Visa Extension Assistance) are given below:

a. First Year - INR 35000

b. Second Year Onwards - INR 20000

3. Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme

Candidates with a Master's degree or equivalent are eligible to apply for the PhD programme with requisite marks / grade as specified by UGC (minimum standards and procedures for award of M.Phil. And Ph.D.) regulations 2016 and its subsequent ammendments.

4. PhD Entrance Test (PET)

The applicants Ph. D. programmes who fulfill the eligibility criteria must be put through the PhD Entrance Test (PET) - an written test conducted by the University followed by a process of interview by a Panel constituted for this purpose. An appearing list will be published in the University noticeboard and website for the PET. Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF/SLET/GATE valid score) or LS fellowship holders and candidates who have M. Phil. degree will be exempted from PET

5. Interview

An interview shall be organized for the candidates qualified in PET and the ones exempt from it where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation. An appearing list for the Interview shall be published in the University noticeboard and website.

6. Offer of Admission

i) A merit list for admission shall be published based on the overall results of the PET and the interview. Applicants shall be short listed on the basis of merit only and depending on the predetermined seats available in each discipline

ii) Selected Candidates shall be asked to join within a scheduled last date.

iii) Vacancies, arising out of any candidate's failure to join within the stipulated time, shall be filled from amongst the candidates in the merit list.
